ORIGINAL: Canopy
Canopy (Where The Light Gets In) was originally a way to cover over a mountain sketch I disliked. My perfectionism had prevented me from touching the older piece for over a year.
When I finally let go, and determined to use acrylic pouring, it forced me to relax. I intended to paint a new mountain over it. But then, after a few hours drying on an unusually sunny Pacific Northwest afternoon, these cracks appeared where the yellow paint was thicker than the green.
I was transported to a glowing forest grove, where the sunlight filters through green leaves above, and I just wanted to stare at it forever.
This piece is now a perfect focal point for meditation, and is already inspiring other abstract works along the same lines.
